It takes a combination of hardware, comfort (Aeron chair, cough), and inspiration to get you working productively.
When starting a company, most unless you are funded by a Venture Capital (VC), you will have a limited budget. So, its whatever you have at hand to make things work for you. A few years down the line, and you’ll wonder how you got work done in an uncomfortable, noisy, corner of a room. I certainly do!
I’m a big fan of Lifehacker when it comes to tips, getting things done’, and working methods that are worth trying out, even if you don’t carry on using them. Some work for you, depending on how you work, what you work on, and what you are producing.
A few simple ideas can go far in boosting your business productivity.
Picture in your mind. Creative designers desk vs. Backend Java ‘Junkie’. The creative usually has a zen type setup with everything in its place, and the backend developer, sometimes hard to spot the keyboard amongst all the starbucks cups.
Working with 2 screens you are meant to work 25% more effectively. However, I’m not sure as it would just encourage me to have Twitter visible in a window, which would make things 25% less productive!
