Design your day
Why design your day? But why design your day yourself? Why not just learn from others, and copy best practice for productivity? Even place-based concepts like ‘home working’ or ‘mobile working’ don’t really capture the shift that’s going on.
Right now, there isn’t any best practice. The old rules and structures of working life have been overturned by technology. Working tools are no longer tied to a particular place.
Pervasive connections, cloud storage and flexible devices mean that we are no longer dependent on a particular locale to have access to the people, information and tools we need to do our jobs.
Designing your day involves a conscious rejection of the idea that you can just work harder.
